SOTL Draft One/MARG - Ch2

Writer's picture: Kaylin AlexanderKaylin Alexander

This chapter is much shorter which means there's less cringe.

Chapter Two

“Wow,” Hayley breathed. Her older sister, Rebekah, had gone here, but she never thought that it would be so beautiful. The walls were made of diamonds, the floor was made of gold, and the ceiling (which was about 200 feet high) was made of emeralds. Alyssa looked around, staring in awe. Natasha looked calm like she did it everyday. Hayley felt weird. She had seen pictures, but when she was here, she felt like she was part of a painting, hanging on a wall in a museum.

“Hello, princesses,” a voice said.

Hayley looked around. A woman was standing on a giant stage. She had a microphone in front of her. “Welcome,” she said. “I am Queen Emily, queen of Joyasdalla and the headmistress of MARG. My sister, Princess Naomi, will pass out schedules and your crowns. As seventh graders, you will get the ruby crowns. Eighth graders get emerald, and ninth graders get diamond.”

Princess Naomi came around and passed out the crowns. When Hayley got hers, she put it on, and it fit like it was made for her. She felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Alyssa. “It’s like these tiaras are made for us!” she whispered. “They’re magical!” said Natasha. “I heard if you put on the wrong tiara, it will become too tight!”

“Weird!” said Alyssa.

After the crowns were passed out, Princess Naomi passed out pieces of paper.

“These are your schedules,” said Queen Emily. “If your name is not on the paper, please tell us.”

When Hayley got her schedule, she looked for her name.

Well, this was her schedule. She would have it for the whole year. Hayley took a deep breath. This was the time to try and memorize it.

Alyssa leaned over. “Looks like we have Frog or Prince? together. Natasha also has that with us. We are in choir together, but you and I have Art & Sewing!”

Natasha leaned over. “Yes! You have potions with me! Since you’re so good at them, you will be my partner.”

Queen Emily stepped up to the mic. “You will need to know your fellow princesses, so when I call your name, come to the stage.”

There's an entire class about frogs and princes but no math. Sounds legit.
