Here's the second book of Draft Two, "Morph Into Trouble," narrated by Maddie.

Chapter One

My Best Friend Gets Swallowed By a Rock

My 10-year-old sister, Alexia, came walking towards me from the school. When she got over, I smiled and said, “You are 2 minutes and 7.692 seconds late!”

She smiled. I couldn’t help but notice that she looked tired. It was probably because she had to go to school on her 10th birthday. My birthday is August 25th and I have my birthday on the first week of school A LOT. I know how it feels.

But it’s a half day. What would have tired her out? I might never know.

“Come on,” Alexia said. “Let’s go home.”

Alexia’s birthday party was a HUGE success. I had fun hanging out with her and her friends Aurora Austin and Lucy Karry. After the party, Alexia gave me a necklace with 5 pearls on the end.

“Wow!” I said. “It’s beautiful!”

“A friend gave it to me,” said Alexia. She got a look in her eyes when she said this and I had no idea why and what that look was.

The day of the first day of school after the break finally came and I wore my new necklace to school.

When I got to school, my friend Nellie Newman ran up to me and Alexia and said, “Wow! That’s a pretty necklace, Maddie!”

“Alexia gave it to me,” I said.

“A friend gave some to us,” said Alexia, as Aurora and her little brother Mikey came up to us. I couldn’t help but notice that he was wearing a necklace too.

“I have one too!” said Mikey.

Mikey is one year younger than me. Nellie and I are in 3rd grade and he’s in 2nd but we are still friends.

“Nellie…” said Alexia. “…do you want one?”

Nellie nodded.

Alexia reached in her bag and pulled a necklace out.

“Thanks!”

We wandered ahead of Alexia and Aurora. I didn’t know what they were talking about, but before I could figure it out, I heard a scream.

When I turned to look where Nellie was SUPPOSED to be, all I saw was a rock and a backpack that said Nellie Newman on it.

Mikey and I looked at the rock, then each other, smiled, and jumped in what was probably a portal.

Then everything went black.

Chapter Two

Weirdest. Place. Ever.

I opened my eyes. I saw white stuff that looked like clouds and cities made of gold. WHAT?????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where am I?

I saw Nellie and Mikey on the ground near me. Well at least we are all right.

I spoke to soon.

A loud noise almost blew out my eardrums. I looked up.

Oh. My. Gosh.

A dragon.

The dragon swooped down and picked the three of us up.

We sailed through the air towards a close house. We were going to crash!!!!!!!!!!

But the dragon landed softly on the yard.

I can’t believe it.

We. Are. Still. ALIVE!!!!!!!

An elderly lady opened the door to the house. “Oh! Hi, Bobby!” she said to the dragon. She looked at us. “Madison Morgan, Nellie Newman, and Mikey Austin. I thought you would come soon.”

Let me get this straight:

1. This place is in the clouds

2. The buildings are made of gold

3. A dragon picked us up

4. A lady has the dragon for a pet and called him “Bobby”

5. The lady knows our names

Before I knew it, we were dragged into the house.

A guy about as old as the lady was sitting on the couch along with a 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy.

“I’m Elizabeth Gray,” said the lady. “Call me Liz. That’s my husband, Charles and our grandkids Carla and George.”

“How do you know our names?” I asked.

“We just do.” said Liz.

“We know Aurora and Alexia,” George blurted out.

“WHAT???????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Mikey and I in unison. Nellie covered her ears.

“You know my sister?” I said.

“You know my sister?” Mikey said at the same time.

“They came here on Friday, your time,” said Carla.

“Our time? What do you mean?” asked Nellie.

“Every day here is a minute there. They came here days ago for us,” said Carla.

I just added this to my list.

Chapter Three

Oh. My. GOSH!!!!!!!

“Can we just tell them already?” George pleaded.

“Tell us WHAT????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I screamed.

“Are you sure we should tell them, George?” said Liz. “I personally think we should wait until they are ten.”

“Tell us WHAT????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Nellie and I screamed.

“I think they are ready, Grandma,” said Carla.

“We can tell them,” said Charles.

“Tell us WHAT????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” all three of us screamed.

“Fine, we’ll tell them!” said Liz.

“Tell us WHAT?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” we screamed again.

“OK,” said Liz, calmly, “You inherited this from your parents. It is rare for someone to be born with something like this without a parent who has this, but not impossible. You can call them ‘superpowers.’”

We were all silent. Nellie broke it.

“Are you serious?” she said.

They nodded.

Mikey, Nellie, and I looked at each other.

“OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Well this is terrible. But alas we shall continue.
