This is the start of Book Four, "Forced Out of the Field," and is narrated by Nellie Newman.

Chapter One

Darkness with Friends

I had never been happier to hear the jangling of keys.

When Aurora and Kat appeared at the cell, I wanted to shout with joy!

It was dark. It was scary. I couldn’t take it!

Why did my force-field have to fail the moment we needed it!? Alexia’s teleportation failed, too. Lucy couldn’t fry him with a lightning bolt, Mikey couldn’t burn him to a crisp, Maddie couldn’t turn into a tiger, and Hannah couldn’t freeze him. Why didn’t our powers work??

WHY?!?!?!?!?

WHY?!?!?!?!?

My prediction is:

Since he is a sorcerer, he made our powers not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kat ungagged me and I could breathe normally. Hooray!

We raced out of the prison with all the smiles.

“Do you think I could teleport us out?” asked Alexia.

“Why not?” said Maddie.

But THE Eli of Eli’s Cliff of Doom (Roll eyes) stopped us on the way out.

“I’ll allow you go,” he said. “But a surprise is waiting for you.”

What surprise did he mean?

He snapped his fingers and we were in front of Liz’s house.

Chapter Two

I Get a Surprise from an Evil Guy Who Lives in a Cliff with Smiley Faces and His Bro

We knocked on the door and Liz opened it immediately.

When we walked in, everyone made sure we OK (yes, we’re OK!) and made us comfortable and Carla got out Chocolate Chip Cookies. Bla Bla Bla.

Of course they brought out almost every single game in the house.

We were having so much fun we forgot about the surprise. Unfortunately, as soon as we were done having fun, the surprise surprised us.

Alexia, Aurora, Lucy, Hannah, Mikey, Kat, Maddie and I were playing a board game with Carla, Liz, George, and Charles when the smoke appeared.

Smoke appeared in the middle of the room. A man was standing in the center. When the smoke disappeared, the man took off his hat. “Hello,” he said. “I am Eli’s brother, Ronald Warlock. I got a call from him saying that you escaped. I presume he said that you were getting a surprise?”

We nodded. I can’t believe we forgot about the stupid surprise! Liz, Charles, Carla, and George might have prevented it! They are soooooooo much more advanced in magic than we are!

“This is your punishment for trespassing on his soil!” Ronald yelled.

And with that, he reached into his cloak, pulled out a ball, and smacked it on the ground into a puff of smoke.

Chapter Three

I “Open” the Surprise

Ronald was gone by the time the smoke disappeared, which was a good sign, but I felt WEIRD!!!!! Very weird. I looked around to see everyone else lying on the ground with me.

I turned to Maddie (who was right next to me) and said, “I feel dizzy.” My voice was soft and quiet.

“Me, too,” said Maddie, her voice the same as mine.

I staggered to my feet and helped up Maddie. “What happened?” I said.

“I’m not sure,” said Alexia, who had already gotten to her feet and was helping up Aurora. “But whatever it was, let’s hope it wasn’t too bad.”

“Does anyone else besides me feel weird?” Aurora asked.

Everyone agreed with Aurora in feeling weird.

Aurora all of a sudden started panting rapidly and fell to the ground.

“Aurora!” Alexia, Lucy, Hannah, and Mikey said and ran to her.

Aurora looked at them and said, “I don’t know what happened. I just started to….” She cut off like she didn’t know how to describe it.

“You felt gravity’s pull more than usual,” said Alexia.

Aurora looked at her. “How did you know that?”

Alexia shrugged and opened her mouth to respond. But before she could, Aurora started to rise in the air!

“AAAHHH!!!” she screamed. “HELP!”

Carla pointed her hand at Aurora and took a deep breath. She started to lower her hand. Nothing happened.

“What?!” Carla exclaimed. “I don’t get it!” She started to raise her hand. “I should be levitating!”

Aurora was really close to the ceiling now.

I tried to put up a force field, but I couldn’t! What was going on?

I started to imagine Aurora on the ground. That’s where she should be. All of a sudden, Aurora was lying on the ground.

“Thanks for teleporting me onto the ground,

Alexia,” Aurora said.

Alexia looked confused. “I didn’t teleport you down,” she said.

Aurora looked confused.

“No! I’m sure!” said Alexia.

“What?” Aurora asked.

“You said ‘You had to’” Alexia said.

“No I didn’t,” said Aurora. “I thought it.”

They looked at each other in shock.

“I’ll go get some cookies,” said Carla, obviously trying to change the subject. She slipped out of the living room and into the kitchen.

“I wonder what’s going on,” said Kat.

“I wonder what cookies Carla’s bringing,” Lucy mumbled.

“Chocolate Chip!” yelled Carla.

“How did you hear my question?” Lucy called.

“You were speaking loudly!” Carla called back.

Lucy looked confused. “No I didn’t! I mumbled it under my breath!”

Carla came back in holding a tray of Chocolate Chip Cookies.

“Yummy!” said Lucy. “I’m so hungry I could eat a whole elephant!”

I grabbed a cookie and looked at Lucy. But Lucy was gone.

“AAAHHH!!!” I screamed. Everyone else screamed.

Where Lucy was standing only minutes before, an elephant was standing there.

The elephant looked confused. It looked at its feet and trumpeted. The elephant then disappeared and Lucy was in its place. She started shivering.

“Let me warm you up,” said Mikey. I expected him to light his hand on fire, but a blue force field appeared instead.

“WHAT?!?!” Mikey and I screamed. I had the force field power, not him!

“Guys,” said Carla, “This can only mean one thing.” Everyone looked at her. Carla took a deep breath. “He switched our powers.”

I'm sick of this. I'm so sick of this. I'm sorry for those who actually decided to read this.
