Short Story - Fantasy - The Emerald of Secrets, Pt. 1

This is going to be a long story.

This eventually did evolve into a fantasy short story that I wrote for my creative writing class, but the concept definitely did not start there.

When I was little, I loved the Rainbow Magic series by Daisy Meadows, so I ended up writing my own fanfiction/spinoff of it called "Natalie the Necklace Fairy" that was going to be a series, but I never got around to writing them.

So, let's go over that.

The story starts with a middle school girl named Christy Banks, who started school in the middle of the year, but she quickly befriends another girl named Trish Karr, and her friends Dave and Adaline. That weekend, Trish invites Christy to go to a place called "Potter's Stream" in a field behind the school, While they're there, they run into a fairy who says her name is Natalie.

Natalie asks the girls for their help, explaining that Jack Frost's brother, Winter Willie (if you never read the series, Jack Frost was the main villain, but I didn't want to use Jack Frost, so I came up with this guy) put a spell on Natalie and ended up stealing a bunch of jewels that prevents the fairies from creating a specific spell. Christy and Trish agree to help, and they look for signs of "gobbies," who are two-inch blue goblins that leave goo wherever they go. Natalie turns the girls into fairies with her wand, and they all fly off to follow a trail of

gobbie goo to a dark cave that turns into a golden mushroom valley. The gobbies apparently come to the grove to feed off the magical energy of the mushrooms. They spot a gobbie, who then runs off. The fairies follow him, but they lose sight of him when Christy smacks into a "gooberry bush." Natalie cleans her up, and they continue their search for the gobbie.

They find a stream full of polka dots, where Natalie has the girls jump on one of the dots and sing a little song asking where the gobbie is. They spin around and find themselves in a flower field where the gobbie is fast asleep, holding a red jewel. Natalie identifies it as her jewel, and they carefully take it from the gobbie.

They leave, but when the gobbie wakes up, he calls for his gobbie friends to go after them.

atalie conjures a picnic so they can eat and regain their energy. Natalie puts her jewel back on her necklace, and begins to explain how important getting the other jewels are. Essentially, there's a lock around the fairy kingdom that can only be opened by seven specific gems with one magnificent gem called "the Emerald of Secrets that would create a protective bubble around the kingdom. Every six months, the fairies have a ritual with their gems, with the emerald being held up to the sun as they speak the spell. But Natalie was put under a spell, and she missed the ceremony, waking up at Potter's Stream.

Five gobbies suddenly appeared out of nowhere, but Trish lets out a high-pitched scream, which froze the gobbies in place. They take the gobbies to an owl to watch over them so they didn't wake up, and the story ends with Natalie declaring they're going on to find Brianna the Bracelet fai

hink there are a few decent concepts in here, but this is far from perfect and most of it doesn't make sense. I planned on improving it in middle school, and tomorrow, we will talk about the first attempt at that.
