The Formation of School of the Legends

So, MARG did not work out as a story idea, as I went over in my previous blog post. I didn't like the acronym being MARG, so I decided to force it into a catchier one, and came up with the Magical Academy for Girls: Intermediate Classes, aka M.A.G.I.C.

This one was more immediately obvious to be a fairy tale parody, and I knew that I wanted to do a series, each adapting a different fairy tale, and this one was not-so-subtly called The Beast in a Beauty. Not the best title I have come up with.

I also wanted to make the series follow the children of popular fairy tale creatures. This later changed because it was too similar to Disney's Descendants (though when I came up with the idea for this in the pre-MARG days, that movie had not come out yet).

When I first started M.A.G.I.C., I mainly came up with names off the top of my head. My protagonist was called Ava Potter, the daughter of Beauty and the Beast, big shock, given the title. Despite the title of the school being seemingly for intermediate school, she was 15, which suggests M.A.G.I.C. was supposed to be a high school.

I also had the idea that each girl at the academy would be assigned a fairy godmother. Ava's was called Audrey. Ava then meets her two roommates: Mallory Campbell and Rebekah Greene, who happened to be the daughters of Rapunzel and Snow White respectively. The former was immediately antagonistic toward Ava, causing a rivalry.

I had some schedules planned out, and it appears the classes included history, potions, charm, ballroom, choir, animal care, manners, and self-defense. So apparently math, literature, other sciences, and literally everything else were not available.

There was also apparently a boys' school equivalent called C.H.A.R.M. and a school for younger middle school level kids called B.L.I.N.K.

I had a few other kids in mind. Karen Frost, the daughter of Jack Frost and the Snow Queen; Lauren Charming, daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming; Rory Phillips, daughter of Sleeping Beauty, and because her full name was Aurora, is the reason why The Secret Portal had Aurora's name changed to Ash (see the post for Draft Four of TSP); Cassandra Storm, daughter of the Sandman; Chailey Scarlet, daughter of the Queen of Hearts; and Summer Amberstone, daughter of Mother Nature.

Not the best or subtle names I've come up with, but they aren't bad.

This Draft I actually took seriously, and I made a lot of revisions to make it better. And tomorrow, I will go over them.
