Other Ideas I've Had
When I was little, I wrote a lot of short stories. I would draw pictures, and then my mom would write the text as I told her what to write. I read these stories aloud on my TikTok (which you can check out here: https://www.tiktok.com/@kaylinrosealexander?lang=en) in my "Reading books that I wrote when I was a little kid" series. Pt3 of that series was titled "The 12 Bear Cubs," and honestly I love it with all of my heart, and plan to loosely adapt it into a novel eventually.
In the early years of elementary school, I loved the Rainbow Magic series by Daisy Meadows, and even wrote my own fanfiction of it--although it was mainly based around the series, using my own two human protagonists and fairy OCs. I never finished it, but when I got my laptop, I decided I wanted to adapt it into a novel series called The Emerald of Secrets. I started another draft of this in high school, but it didn't go anywhere. In my senior year, I had to write a fantasy short story, and what I wrote was loosely based on this idea. I still have yet to come up with a plot, or even decide if this should be a series or not, but it's an idea I still have floating around.
In eighth grade, I decided I wanted to write a Peter Pan story with a sci-fi spin on it. I still have the idea on the table, but I haven't gone back to it for a while. I am adapting Peter Pan into School of the Legends, so we will see how that goes. I may change it, who knows?
Also in middle school, I had an idea of where I would write in the form of journals, another that followed a blind telepath, another where two childhood best friends who grew apart, and an sci-fi alien series. Haven't lost sight of any of these yet, but we will see.
In my freshman year of high school, I was in a beginning theatre class where we were required to write two scripts, with a writing prompt each week. One was a paranormal scif-i FBI story called "Eternity" and the other was an apocalyptic sci-fi story called "The Others." I tried adapting "Eternity" into novel form, but it didn't get very far before I abandoned it again. In that same creative writing class I mentioned earlier, I took "The Others" and adapted it into a short story assignment. I'm proud of that assignment, honestly, and it definitely will be adapted into a novel. As for "Eternity," I feel like I need to brush up on it, but I do want it to be a novel someday, too.
I once had an idea for a dystopian novel where a bunch of people from different clans came together under a common goal or task, but decided that was boring, and I changed it to a high fantasy concept, where the characters instead were an orc, an elf, and a goblin. Haven't expanded on it much.
I actually do have a vague outline for a dystopian novel, but as of now, it only has a few ideas that I have to give a lot of thought into, as well as come up with a plot for.
At one point I drafted a few chapters for another fantasy series following twin half-faeries. Haven't figured out a plot for it yet, though, so that's been sitting still for a while.
I lived through Hurricane Harvey, so I was inspired to write a book about it. However, I think that inspiration is gone, so I don't think it's gonna happen. However, we will see.
I had a horror story planned out around middle school, but didn't get back to it until the creative writing class, where I wrote a short story. I'm not proud of the dialogue (curse word limits) but I think my descriptions were pretty sick. For that same class, I also wrote a sci-fi time travel short story that unfortunately isn't that good because of word limits, but the concept is staying the same.
I have two other stand-alone novel ideas called It Was All Just a Dream and Leaving the 99. Will not talk about what they are about, though. The former I did write a short story version for in my creative writing class, and I'm proud of that.
I also have a document where I record concepts I have for stories that don't have much more to go on.
That's it for today. I know it wasn't much, but tomorrow, I will talk about something cursed... middle school fanfiction.
