This excerpt was based on a story my mother told me when I was little, about two sisters, Erin and Beth, who saw a hole over their parents bed. They saw their parents enter and leave it, and when they went in, they were in a spaceship, and out the window was Earth. Beth was excited for the adventure while Erin remained ever logical and skeptical. She never finished the story, but I have always wanted to continue it.
I've always found it an interesting dynamic that Erin, the younger sister, was the logical and skeptic one while it was her older sister that wanted fun and adventure. It's an interesting dynamic that isn't brought up in stories often.
