Character Introduction: Issa Johansen

Today, I introduce y'all to Issa Johansen:

Issa is a charismatic and charming girl who's a natural and humble leader that people gravitate to. She's not afraid to stand up for what she believes it and connects to people very easily, speaking to their hearts to bring people together for a common goal. She's often caught off-guard when people are rude to her and don't like her, making her seem naive to the less emotional. She's a telekinetic who holds a great deal of power behind her, although she often underestimates herself. She struggles to make the right decision, often stuck imagining all possible outcomes, and isn't always sure how the pros and cons weight against one another. She always wants to make a good impression on people that she respects, and despite her seemingly confident exterior, has a lot of self-doubt that she has to work through. She seeks the counsel of others when she knows that she needs it, and despite her tendency to be overbearing, she deeply cares about everyone around her and has a strong desire to do good for the benefit of all.

Issa was a character who originated in Draft Four of The Secret Portal, but didn't really get much to do in it. There was a group dynamic that wasn't exactly working for me, and I brainstormed what I could do to change it. Suddenly, it clicked, and I swapped the heights of two of the characters, and it all fell into place immediately (this tactic doesn't always work, but it goes to show how even the smallest changes, like flipping heights, can do wonders). From there, Issa's character fell into place. Her character was called Ashley then, but it became Carissa when the heights flipped. I noticed relatively recently that I had too many characters with C names, so while her name is still Carissa, she now goes by Issa, which I thought was really cute.
