Character Introduction: Robbie Stafford

Today, we have Robbie Stafford:

Robbie is a charming, independent, charismatic, and compassionate teenager who has a lot of energy that bursts out without warning--sometimes literally, as he is an energy converter. He reads between the lines for everything, even if there's not anything there, sometimes overthinking to the point where he stays up at night trying to figure out a puzzle that doesn't exist. He believes there's a reason for everything, and won't stop thinking about something until he finds the reason for it. He's a master at social conversation, being able to steer a conversation into whatever he wants to talk about, although he has a tendency to overshare with no clue as how to stop talking. He finds it difficult to focus on anything, including things he actually wants to get done, leading him to get stressed easily. He's a perfectionist who's constantly fantasizing about the future, and he's willing to share his thoughts with anyone willing to listen, and is willing to listen to anyone. He has a wide circle of friends with a gravitating personality, and persists on getting to know the people in his life. He's an optimistic person who tends to have a pessimistic view on himself, but he's always willing to help others.

Robbie was not a character in The Secret Portal until Draft Four, and even then, when I introduced him, he was only supposed to be a side character. When writing Draft Four, I decided I need more male characters--even though I still have a female majority, I knew that I needed a few more just in the realm of statistical probability given the context of the story. "Robert" at the time was just one of the characters I threw into the mix, but as I began to write for him, I ended up loving his character to death, and as I kept drafting, he became a main character, and I soon made him go by the nickname Robbie because I thought it fit him better. His power of energy conversion is super fun to write because I think it's just an epic power to have.
