Character Introduction: Raissa Kamanzi

Today, we have the final character from The Secret Portal that I'm going to introduce, Raissa Kamanzi:

Raissa is a bold an strong leader who always makes a way to achieve her goals. She's charismatic, confident, and rational, loving the thrill of fighting with her opponents. She has extreme focus, determination, and an indestructible willpower. She respects others who can match her intelligence, and recognizes the talents of others. She's larger than life and has a tendency to make enemies, is very impatient, and tries to win every argument no matter how big or small. She's both condescending and inspiring, depending on the situation. Despite her drive to move forward, she does have pessimistic tendencies if she experiences a setback or a failure, struggling to move on past a conflict. She has a softer side that she doesn't want people to see, and is sentimental, prone to worry, is sometimes affectionate, and is more receptive to her emotions.

Raissa used to be a throwaway name: Fiona Harkey. I had no tendency to have her play a big role, and only used the first name to come to mind when I was giving exposition. But as I used her name more and more, I knew I had to make her a prominent figure. When I got to Draft Five, however, I had a feeling I'd have to give her a name that sounded, well, cooler, than a name that I thought of at the top of my head, and soon came to the name Raissa Kamanzi. She's a very hard character to balance in terms of moral grayness, but I can't wait to write more with her as the series goes on.
