Character Introduction: Parker Cassidy

Today, we have Parker Cassidy:

Parker is a smart, energetic, and perceptive teenager who is always living in the moment. He loves to draw the people to him and be in the spotlight, which he never tires of, and is always trying to break the mold, be himself, and express his desires, which often makes him a chaotic force to be reckoned with. This passionate allows him to be a very gifted aerokinetic, using a relatively passive element to its extreme in endlessly creative ways. He's in life for the drama and the risk, and never wants to waste a second. Despite being a quick thinker, his mind often moves too fast for his own good, usually responding to his impulses in a very sporadic and oftentimes unfocused manner, sometimes getting so caught up in everything he may take things too far. However, this does not stop him from being a natural leader and extremely observant of the world around him. He's direct, blunt, impatient, and has a great sense of humor. He's action-oriented and hands-on, making him very good at combat. He's very perseverant--obstacles only making him work harder--but often believes almost too much that he can handle anything life throws at him.

I originally planned to have Parker do more in Draft Four of The Secret Portal, but that ended up not happening. Originally, he had telepathy, but at the time I already had many telepaths, and wanted to limit it to three, but that's since gone down to two. Also, I didn't think telepathy worked for his character, so when I added aerokinesis (see my post on TSP's world building), I gave it to him. As for his character, I wanted to do more with him, and after I finished my first go at Part Three, I realized that there needed to be more connection to my character Wade, who I talked about in my last post. So, I decided to make him and Parker best friends, which gained a really nice dynamic out of it, and set Parker up for an interesting story moving forward.
