Xitlali is a smart and passionate girl who has an effortlessly quick wit with a strong sense of reasoning. She's brutally honest, and always aims for a sense of understanding from an opposing side, although she stands her ground when it comes to her opinions, knowing every single counterargument an opponent has for her. She loves to think of ways to change the world for the better, having a deep understanding of the problems and their potential solutions, although she has no desire to do the grunt work involved, and often needs help getting it done. She has no qualms with questioning authority, hates social expectations, despises people who beat around the bush, and never passes an opportunity to learn something. She's very confident and knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. She's good at communicating, and good at adapting to rules, but needs her freedom and hates routine. She's very honest and direct, which can lead to her being seen as condescending, but she never tries to win anyone's approval, doesn't need positive feedback, and has a relatively optimistic view of the future, and is a risk-taker to reach there.
Xitlali came up when planning Draft Five, when I was just brainstorming ideas, but then her name was Daniella Santiago. I was planning to pair her up romantically with another character, but I realized that character had more chemistry with someone else when I actually put it to the test. Daniella herself became a very interesting character to plan, and as I thought more and more about her, the originally romantic plotline with her fell apart on its own (and led to the lack of romantic chemistry I originally planned, since her personality changed so much), and I can't wait to actually write a scene with her. I changed her name when I decided I wanted more indigenous Latin American names, and I really like this one.
