Character Introduction: Ash Hathaway

Today, I am introducing Ash Hathaway:

Ash is impulsive and reckless in her own curiosity, but is brilliant with machinery. She loves discovering how things work and taking risks that can be at the detriment of herself and others. She usually struggles to focus unless she comes across something that is endlessly fascinating. She plays rough and fair, usually dealing back what she was dealt, although she tends to be insensitive with a habit of snooping. Being a telepath, this only increases her lack of understanding privacy, but despite being able to read emotions, she often misinterprets them and remains emotionally aloof. Despite peeking in on other people due to her own impulsive curiosity, she herself remains closed off and secretive. She has a habit of self-doubting when she makes a mistake, and has a strong drive to prove herself worthy and capable, as she's constantly comparing herself to others. She's someone who's easily bored and will do anything for stimulation with no regard for the consequences, and is on the constant lookout for a new hobby.

Ash has proven to be a very difficult character to write. When she was "Aurora," she still had telepathy, but her personality was pretty far from what it is now. Although I know exactly where Ash will be at any given point in the series (in regards to her character arc), writing her in the moment is extremely hard. Writing someone who is a telepath, and aware of everyone's thoughts and emotions at any given time, yet still manages to be terrible at reading people, is fun, but it's hard to get down. There's plenty of other layers of why Ash is so difficult, but I don't want to get to far into spoiler territory.
